Brothers All Are We

The month of May is upon us in full swing.... Spring at its finest! There is an undeniable note of growth and renewal in the air. In May, we honor our beautiful mothers and we also honor our fallen heroes. For me, May is also the month where my family remembers my brother, Jimmy (passed 42 years ago) and our father who passed 22 years ago. May starts off shaking off April’s chill, but finishes strong with lush gardens and the promise of longer, sunnier days ahead. May also quietly whispers from her warmer winds “get moving”.....get back on the horse if you’ve fallen off. Perhaps this is why Mother’s Day and Memorial Day were set aside for May - to inspire us by honoring and remembering the best of us.

Attached is a video I wanted to share with you that highlights my Uncle Bob. My dad and Uncle Bob were brothers and best friends. My father actually passed away on his older brother’s Bob’s birthday-they were very close. Uncle Bob was seventeen in 1944 and wanted nothing more than to enlist in the Marine Corp and join his three older brothers. Listen to the video, which was put together last year, and you’ll find out how he got in as a 17 year old. And listen to the end…Uncle Bob (95 today and still swinging a golf club!) is an inspiring example of what so many young men and women sacrificed for our beloved country. It’s a little slice of history and yet another reminder of the greatest generation.

I wish you all a Spring filled with renewal, strength, hope and light! And if your birthday happens to fall this month, as my husbands does, do what my dad did…”If it was good enough for George Washington, it’s good enough for me!” Take the day off!

Now, get going.

In peace and health,

Debbie
