Humble is Heaven’s Gate
As the year 2022 winds to an end, I’d like to thank every new client (over 50 new faces!) who walked through the studio’s doors this year. Since moving my studio to Cape Cod, this was the busiest I have ever been. Welcome to new clients and thank you to my dear year rounders for entrusting your health and well being into my hands. I am truly grateful!
Seeing so many new faces also gave me renewed hope - the heavy cloak of COVID was finally being shed and I could see from my small studio that everyone was ready to get back to living and laughing again.
During the holidays, I like to include a little story that is inspired by my family. This year, my mother is the inspiration.
Since my father’s passing in 2000, each year in December, we have taken my beautiful mother to Symphony Hall to hear the Boston Pops do what they do best - play holiday and Christmas music. Our little group includes my husband, my brother Crick and his wife Martha, and me. There is nothing I love more than watching my Mom's face as she’s captivated by the beautiful orchestra and chorus. My mom has been going to Symphony Hall since she was a little girl. The pure joy and light that comes from her eyes never gets old. But how can this be? She’s lost a child, a husband, dear friends and family over the years - where is this light in her eyes and joy in her heart coming from?
Besides the beautiful music bringing back memories of yore, what my mother has is simply, Faith.
So where does this come from? One cannot see it or package it up. There are no directions that come with it. Does it really exist??
Faith is Divine. And, guess what? It is open to each and every soul that walks this earth. It is non-denominational. Heaven’s gate is open to all; all we have to do is get the key out and unlock that gate. No judgment, no stubborn beliefs, no hierarchy, just the simple notion that all will be well and yes, This Too Shall Pass. I believe that Heaven is right here with us now. But when we’re running around crazy busy or drowning in despair, it is hard for us to see the light at the gate.
So, let us be inspired by my mother and try and find that light and joy inside us all. This is my hope and prayer for 2023: To live (my) our lives with hope, faith, gratitude, tolerance, forgiveness, kindness, and warm hearts. And when that little beastie called fear or despair wants to knock on your door, you show it the gate....Heaven’s Gate. That’s all the power you will ever need.
May you all enjoy every minute with your loved ones and friends this holiday season.
Onward and upward in 2023!
In peace and health,
Debbie
